Anniversary of the photovoltaic system – over 900 megawatt hours generated

Rameder's “sunshine” turns 10 (EN)
It has already saved almost 500 tons of CO2: the solar panel system on the Rameder company building in Munschwitz in Germany. The system, which consists of 1,076 thin-film modules and eleven kilometers of cables, was put into operation in 2010. The bottom line after ten years is impressive: Europe’s leading supplier of towbars and transport accessories has generated more than 900 megawatt hours of energy to date.

“Given our exposed location on a hill and large roof areas with an optimum pitch, we decided ten years ago to install the 1,600 m2 solar panel system ,” explains Marketing Manager Jens Waldmann: “Installation of the system on our warehouse, which has a floor area of more than 4,700 m2, began only a few weeks after the decision.” On June 10, 2010, a representative of network operator E.ON Thuringia enabled everything ready for power generation. The system uses only thin-film modules of type MAGE SOLAR (CHIMEI 100) as well as nine inverters (eight IG Plus 150 and one IG Plus 35). The system output is 87,500 Wp (watt peak) and around 90,000 kWh per year can be fed in. In total, 911.46 MWh of energy have been generated so far (as of April 21, 2020). Compared to using energy from fossil fuels, this has saved 483.08 tons of CO2. As a comparison: The energy generated so far would be enough to drive a Renault Zoe electric car (consumption: 17.2 kWh/100 km) more than 5 million kilometers.

With investments in solar panel systems, companies like Rameder contribute to making Germany the leading producer of solar power in the EU.
